| 3 January 1984 | Indira Ghandi Murdered |
|---|
I was born in Aberystwyth, Wales, during a thunderstorm. After having two boys my parents were pleasantly surprised that I was a girl.
| September 1987 - June 1988 | Intifada Begins |
|---|
When I was four I spent nine months in New Zealand thanks to my father's work. We stopped off at Bangkok, Tahiti and LA. I only have vague memories of these places but I remember being very happy at the kindergarten in Auckland.
| June 1988 | The first plutonium pacemaker is made |
|---|
After returning to Wales I had a small but close circle of girlfriends because there were twice as many boys in my class and so us girls had to stick together! Some of these were children whose parents were foreign students at the University. I am still in touch with a friend in Bahrain. Memories of my childhood include spending long summer holidays playing with the neighbours in our big garden and camping with my best friend.
| September 1998 - 1 June 2000 | Northern Ireland Peace process |
|---|
I gained 11 GCSEs one of which was Welsh. As I attended the English language school I regret not being able to speak this language fluently but I achieved a lot at school. Music became a bigger part of my life when I joined the school choir which led to national competitions and a trip to Germany. Both my piano teacher and school music teacher at the time made music fun.
| February 1999 | Impeachment trial of President Clinton |
|---|
One of my best holidays. It was spent in Cyprus with my parents and my best friend. I knew then that I wanted to spend more time in foreign countries.
| September 2000 - June 2002 | Mad cow disease alarms Europe |
|---|
I took A Levels in Music, History and French as these were my favourite subjects. I also did AS English Literature which I would have liked to continue with but thought French would be more useful! This final year was stressful because at the same time I took Grade 8 piano and applied to University.
| 1 September 2002 - 1 June 2006 |
|---|
I decided to go to Sheffield University because it was such a contrast to my hometown. It was really new at first and a bit overwhelming. It turned out to be the best thing I've done. Law with French was a lot of work but I made some of my best friends at Uni and had many great experiences.
| September 2004 - July 2005 |
|---|
My Erasmus year I spent in Aix-en-Provence which is a gorgeous little town near Marseille. The halls I lived in were very cheap and basic but I had a great experience meeting people from all over the world. I stayed for as long as possible in the summer, going to the beach, swimming pool and enjoying the music festival.
| September 2005 - September 2006 |
|---|
I returned to Sheffield for my final year. Most of my friends had left apart from the ones doing Masters. I met my boyfriend during this time. I stayed during the summer in Sheffield to temp and to get to know him better. We had a nice holiday in Malaga thanks to a Spanish friend.
| September 2006 - April 2007 |
|---|
I remained in Sheffield this last year to work and see my boyfriend who was finishing his Masters. After being a very bored receptionist in a Law firm, I worked in a recruitment agency which was much more interesting. I caught glandular fever around Christmas which delayed my departure for Bordeaux until now!
